"The Ladies and Mr Taylor"
This is the second film that I made for film class at then-North Texas State University in the Spring of 1975 with my mom and a neighbor (in the wig!). All we had were silent Super 8 mm film cameras to work with. Such a difference from video-on-your-phone today!

Sandy Duncan in "The Love Boat" episode, "Lost and Found" - broadcast 11/19/1977. Sandy invited me onto the set to watch some of the filming the previous September. She spent a lot of time helping Jim Stafford to become more comfortable with their scenes since he was a singer and hadn't done much acting. The week's shooting was difficult since she had to spend so much time crying!

In 1967, Sandy Duncan made a screen test for the part of Minnie Fay in the movie version of "Hello, Dolly!". Production on the film began in 1968 and was then held for release until December, 1969. It is interesting that director Gene Kelly passed on Sandy in the role, but only a few years later, he was a guest in Sandy's special, "The Sandy Duncan Special" in 1974.

Sandy Duncan in "Midnight Cowboy"

This is the scene in "Midnight Cowboy" where Sandy Duncan appears. Sandy loves to tell the story on herself that shortly after she arrived in New York City, the director John Schlesinger saw her performing and said, "Well, you're just the cutest thing! I'd like for you to be in my movie." So, they shot scenes for a whole afternoon, and Sandy thought, "Wow, I have just gotten to New York, and I'...

I never ‘bought’ Tommy as a straight male lead and I write this as a gay man myself. His arms, or more so his hands, when he dances here… as a little bit too decorative.

She sounds great here and has a beautiful, warm sound and great vocal control. But I prefer the version by British actress Millicent Martin, who really acts the words and expresses what the song is actually about, with a much better arrangement of the music as well. The arrangement here is just too bouncy and swingy for what the song is actually about. ruclips.net/video/1YL-n7LedUU/видео.html

This is Peter Gennaro’s choreography for the first Broadway revival. Bob Fosse’s choreography for the original production was entirely different. I saw both of these productions. Don Correia gives a very smooth, very athletic interpretation to this number, but Swen Swenson in the original was far more seductive, and this song is all about seduction. Swenson told me he would rehearse the number for two hours, even months after the show opened, and it showed in his performance.

Well, it's not Swen and it's not Fosse. Don is great and so is Gennaro's choreography, which is done to suit Don's style and body. It's really that simple.
